Naef Bauhaus Construction Blocks

In 1923, while studying at the legendary Bauhaus, Alma Siedhoff-Buscher designed this building game for the children’s room of the model house Haus am Horn in Weimar. The simple geometric pieces were later produced in different versions by the Bauhaus workshops and became an important example of the Bauhaus approach to children’s design.

Naef has been faithfully reproducing this historic building set since 1977, bringing a piece of Bauhaus design history into the hands of a new generation.

With its simple shapes and open-ended design, the set encourages children to build, experiment, and create freely while exploring colour, form, and balance.

*Design: Alma Siedhoff-Buscher was born in 1899 and studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau, where she focused on designing and producing children’s furniture and toys. For the Haus am Horn, the model house created for the 1923 Bauhaus exhibition, Siedhoff-Buscher worked with Erich Brendel to design the children’s room. Her work brought the Bauhaus principles of simple forms, colour, and functionality into the world of children’s play.
